Arjo
Wiggins Qingdao Paper Co., Ltd. is joint ventures of
Qingdao Paper Manufacturing Plants and Arjo Wiggins
Carbonless Paper Co., Ltd., based in United Kingdom.
Despite the foundation of joint venture in 1995, the
joint venture has grown up to take about 30% of carbonless
paper market share in China, with about 200 local staff.
In
May 2000, ACCPAC Advantage Series 4.1 with MIS2000 4.1
was acquired to replace the previous accounting software
to enhance the manufacturing management. The implementation
of financial and operation suite of ACCPAC is just routine
and similar to the other clients, but we met a particular
trouble in setting up MISys2000 with all functionality
levels.
Normally,
a BOM is structured with the finished product as the
Parent item, and the Parent item is made up of a variety
of child items, the normal BOM structure can be illustrated
as the following picture:
Very particularly,
the finished product of Arjo Wiggins Qingdao is not
assembled by a variety of components, but cut into from
a reel of chemical-coated paper. In addition, a reel
of chemical-coated paper can be cut into a variety of
finished products with different width and length. The
BOM structure can be illustrated as the following picture:
The project was implemented
by two phases. The first phase took 3 months to set
up the finance system and sales process with ACCPAC.
During the first phase, Norming Consultants and the
clients construct a new BOM to use MISys2000 standard
functionality and eventually to suit the client 's business
requirement. Based on the success of the first phase,
we started the second phase that focused on the implementation
of MISys2000. " This phase is a really tough job," said
Bruce Li, " but we made it."
