Beijing Delong,
a wholly-owned subsidiary of German battery charging
equipment manufacturer, Industrial Automation Energiesysteme
GmbH & CO, started out as a small outfit 3 years
ago.
Today, it
controls 30 per cent of China's market for battery charging
equipment in fork trucks.
With 25 employees, and a manufacturing facility in China,
Beijing Delong is definitely on the way to bigger and
better things as it was certified to be ISO9002 compliant
in early 1999.
ISO certifications demonstrate and certify an organization's
high manufacturing and process controls and standards.
Having grown
so quickly, it realized that its current financial accounting
solution was inadequate to the task. This was mainly
due to the fact that the company was continuously adding
new production lines to its expanding facilities.
"When we
first started our business, we had chosen ACCPAC's financial
management solutions as we needed something quick, reliable
and with a good support infrastructure," said Wei Lan,
chief accountant for Beijing Delong. "However it is
time for us to upgrade our systems as we need more to
control our inventory and manage our production as the
company grows."
Beijing Delong
found that it faced major challenges particularly in
the area of managing the flow and control of its production
inventory. The RMB 6 million company handles a large
number of items including raw materials and semi-finished
products in the course of the manufacturing process.
"We needed
a solution that would be cost-effective, scalable, lexible,
suitable for a small-to- midium sized operation like
ours," said Wei Lan. "Also key to us was that the solution
needed to have multilingual support and meet a variety
of internal and external reporting structures."
Beijing Delong
took a year to evaluate several competing solutions,
eventually finding that few - if any - could match ACCPAC
for Windows.
"ACCPAC is
flexible, cost effective, reliable and most importantly
has a very strong presence and support from the local
reseller, Norming Consultants," Wei Lan said.
"ACCPAC was
the first choice for Bejing Delong because of its richness
in features and functionality.
In addition, our professional level of support and services
extended to the client also play a significant role",
added Bruce Li, Principal Consultant, Norming Consultants.
The fact
that the company had an existing solution from ACCPAC
only made the whole process easier.
"We saw a
need to support the growth that we had experienced as
well as provision for the expected development of the
company in years to come," Wei Lan explains. "By adding
to the existing financial
suite that we had been using we were gaining greater
levels of both functionality and integration, with a
minimum of fuss and hassle."
With the
operations suite and MISys2000, Beijing Delong is now
able to manage high volume inventory
flows in a quicker and more efficient manner - something
that ACCPAC's solutions are particularly
suited to.
Through ACCPAC
for Windows, the company gained additional unctionality
and support for balance sheets, income statements and
cash flow reports that the various government agencies
require. These reports had previously been compiled
manually, a long and painstaking process that was prone
to error.
Beijing Delong
also found that it needed a much smaller management
team to handle the entire business transactions now
- saving a lot of time, and gaining advantages in financial
planning and analysis.
"ACCPAC for
Windows has enhanced our ability to reduce costs, enhance
management styles and improve cooperation. Now we only
need to concentrate on one thing - our business, which
we see reaching RMB10
million in revenue this year," Wei Lan enthused.
